ABOUT THIS WORKSHOP
YOUR REGULATED PRESENCE IS YOUR MOST POWERFUL TOOL
Your nervous system is the first intervention your client encounters, and learning to keep it regulated is the most overlooked skill in clinical and coaching practice.
Recent neuroscience confirms what practitioners are feeling in their bodies: co-regulation isn't a metaphor. Your autonomic state is continuously read by your client's nervous system. But the exchange runs both ways — and practitioners who identify as empaths and fixers absorb their clients' dysregulation all day, override their own neurobiological limits, and finish drained, depleted, and carrying their clients' pain home with them.
The missing piece is your own regulation.
Think of your capacity like the gym for your nervous system.
Just as you'd expect a good personal trainer to squat more weight than you, a practitioner needs a bigger regulatory capacity than their clients. This workshop synthesizes current findings from co-regulation research, interoception science, attachment neurobiology, and the neuroscience of empathy and compassion. You'll leave with a clear, neurobiologically-grounded framework for building that capacity, so you can co-regulate your clients without paying for it at the end of the day.
THE NEUROBIOLOGY OF CO-REGULATION
You can't co-regulate a client from a dysregulated nervous system.
When you understand co-regulation at this level, the guesswork disappears. You'll know why your presence shifts a session before you say a word. You'll understand why some clients leave you exhausted, and how to set the interoceptive boundaries that keep you resourced. And your outcomes will improve because the most powerful tool in the room — your own regulated nervous system — is finally working for you, not against you.
This is the difference between practice that depletes you and practice that sustains you.
DO YOU...
- Feel your nervous system shift when working with a dysregulated client, and struggle to reset between sessions?
- Find yourself mirroring your clients' activation or shutdown without realizing it's happening?
- Finish your day drained and depleted, with nothing left for yourself or your family?
- Catch yourself over-giving, rescuing, or struggling to hold boundaries with clients who rely on you heavily?
- Identify as an empath or a fixer, and override your own limits because you're supposed to be the one with the answers?
- Know the theory of nervous system regulation but struggle to apply it to your own experience in practice?
If you're nodding along, this workshop is for you.
WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
- The neurobiology behind co-regulation and therapeutic use of self — including the brain networks involved in empathic distress and the attachment neurobiology that shapes how we respond to others' dysregulation
- The difference between empathic distress and compassion at the level of the nervous system — and why one drains you while the other resources you
- Advanced Interoceptive Attention Regulation: how to sense, interpret, and respond to your own body's signals in real time, so you can catch dysregulation before it derails your session or your day
- How to set interoceptive boundaries — staying fully present with your clients without absorbing their dysregulation
- What the research shows about interoceptive training: increased grey matter associated with emotional regulation, reduced burnout, better decision-making, and improved wellbeing
- Why self-regulation is the foundation of good practice — and how to build a bigger regulatory capacity than your clients, like going to the gym for your nervous system
- Practical ways to regulate and resource your own nervous system before, during, and between sessions, so you finish the day with capacity left
- How to apply this across clinical and coaching contexts, moving from fixer to facilitator with a clear framework for sustainable practitioner self-regulation
This framework protects the most important instrument you have: you.
