The Gut-Brain Axis: The Nervous System as the Foundation of Digestion

FOR COACHES AND CLINICIANS

LIVE WORKSHOP + Q&A

60-minute workshop with Jessica.

ABOUT THIS WEBINAR

You've watched a client follow every protocol, the elimination diet, the supplements, the gut-healing plan, and they still experience gut issues under stress.

You've explained the guts role in mental health to a client, and watched it land as interesting information rather than something they know how to use.

This workshop is a structured look at how nervous system state drives digestive symptoms.

The gut-brain axis is not a one-way system, with the vagus nerve carrying signals in both directions. The majority of its fibers run gut-to-brain, reporting on inflammation, stretch and the state of the gut lining, while the remainder run brain-to-gut, directing motility, secretion and blood flow. A dysregulated nervous system can drive gut symptoms, and a dysregulated gut can just as easily drive symptoms like anxiety, fatigue and brain fog right back. You can't fully resolve one side of that loop while ignoring the other.

That's because digestion isn't a gut-first process. It's a state-first process. Before the gut can digest, absorb or repair, the nervous system has to signal safety first. No safety signal, no rest-and-digest. That's not a wellness concept, it's the physiology the vagus nerve is built on, and it's the layer most gut protocols never touch.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

  • How bidirectional signaling between the gut and brain works, and what it means for how you sequence a digestive intervention with a client.
  • How to read whether a client's gut symptoms are being driven or maintained by a dysregulated autonomic state, before reaching for a gut-first fix.
  • How to use the vagal brake, interoception and HRV as practical, in-session assessment tools.
  • A sequencing principle for knowing when nervous system work should come first, and when gut-level intervention will actually hold.
  • Language you can use so this lands with clients as something they can act on, not just information they nod along to.

A recording will be sent to everyone who registers. If you join live, you'll also have time to bring your own case questions to the Q&A at the end.

IS THIS WORKSHOP FOR YOU?

This workshop is designed for you if:

  • You're a coach or clinician whose clients bring you gut symptoms, like bloating, IBS or food reactivity, that don't resolve with gut-only approaches.
  • You already understand the basics of the vagus nerve and want to know exactly what to do with that knowledge in session, in what order, and why it works.
  • You've felt the gap between explaining the nervous system to a client and having them actually use what you explained.
  • You want a clearer framework for knowing when to work bottom-up with the body versus top-down with education, specifically for digestive presentations.

This is designed to add a layer to the practice you already have, not replace it.
